Auction sets MEF off in the right direction - President, Jeff Leathe comments.

June 17, 2009 - The Marshwood Education Foundation hosted a very lively dinner/auction on May 30th at the Regatta Banquet and Conference Center in Eliot, ME. The new foundation netted over $10,000 after expenses and has a great start to begin funding grants to MSAD35 staff.

“These grants will be used for innovative educational opportunities. MEF would again like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who so generously contributed to making our first event such a success,” said Jeff Leathe, MEF president.

“We had very favorable comments. We’re on a roll and have more events planned. We intend to sustain a long term commitment to Eliot and South Berwick schools,” he said.

Good Girl Graphics of South Berwick, Maine donates a professional and well designed logo to MEF

Hanna Bulger, of Good Girl Graphics generously donated her time and craft to create a well thought out, designed logo full of integrity and promise. We are grateful for her time, energy, and enthusiasm in creating exactly how we want The Marshwood Education Foundation to be viewed. The MEF logo will hopefully grow into a symbol that will be identified with achievement, aspirations, inspiration, creativity, community support, and a challenge to always make MSAD 35 better than it is now. Thank you again Hanna for your creativity and great eye for color.

Trellis Awards - Honoring a Great Teacher at MSAD 35

Paying tribute to our teachers can come in many forms. One unique way to do so is to make a donation in the name of the special teacher in your child’s life in the form of a MEF Trellis Award gift. A gift of any amount may be given. Honored teachers’ names will appear on our website and teachers will receive a certificate from the Marshwood Education Foundation to inform them of the Trellis gift given in their name. The Trellis Award is a wonderful way to honor our teachers and contribute to our children’s education with the same monetary gift. Like all donations to MEF, the Trellis gift is tax-deductible.

You may make a Trellis Award donation simply by completing our donation form and checking the Trellis box. Please provide the name of the teacher or other school employee you wish to recognize. Also let us know how you would like your gift to be named, ie from your child, family name, or in memory of. http://www.marshwood-education-foundation.com/id17.html

Kick off dinner & auction - Regatta Room, Eliot Maine - The Marshwood Education Foundation

Friends come together to help support The Marshwood Education Foundation at its kick off dinner & auction at the Regatta Room, Eliot Maine. It was a night filled with great food, friendly faces, generous bidders, and hope for a better educational future for our children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends and community. One of my favorite teachers from the Great Works School, Beth Morrison takes time from her busy schedule to show her support for the newly formed foundation. So many of the staff from MSAD 35 were present and MEF were extremely appreciative to have them attend.

John and Robyn Hayes attended with their friends to support the MEF. They are both alumni from Marshwood and currently own a local business, Village Motors on Route 236, South Berwick Maine. Beth Glidden, another alumni, stands next to the Hayes and is also a local business owner.

Marshwood Education Foundation - Board of Directors

A group of individuals from Eliot and South Berwick have joined forces to use their individual talents and experiences to help lay the foundation for a successful organization with a primary goal of funding educational grants for MSAD 35. A few of these people knew each other before The Marshwood Education Foundation but most came together for the first time at the initial meeting at Marshwood Highschool. Helene Cass and Dr. Beardan along with help from Principals, Faculty, and teachers reached out to both communities asking for help to create an education foundation. The Marshwood Education Foundation, MEF is actively loooking for new members and volunteers to build on its early efforts. They are excited to be awarding the first grants to teachers and individuals working with classrooms this fall. The Marshwood Education Foundation

It's amazing what can happen when a group of people from all walks of life come together with a similiar purpose. Individuals from Eliot and South Berwick, Maine have begun to lay the foundation for something that will work to enhance, enable, and energize the classrooms of MSAD 35 beyond the everyday classroom activities. The Marshwood Education Foundation, MEF will serve its benefactors, children and educators by making grants available to "out of the box" teaching and learning opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity for MSAD 35 and the Board of Directors are looking foward to working together with the two communities to provide funding for these opportunities. Please take a moment to visit http://www.marshwood-education-foundation.com/ and learn more about what is already taking shape for our students and also how you may help the cause. We are also reaching out to alumni of Marshwood for their success stories of what their education has brought to their lives. Please send us your success stories and pictures.
